Earwalk Toward the Clavicle suspends in the instant a bolt of lightning strikes the exact coordinates it struck a millennium ago, a millisecond stretching into eternity. Oracle Egg transforms into a crater, a particle accelerator where concentrated energy changes state without losing its trace, spewing out creatures of song, speed, and pure light.

Lightning becomes a model for the work’s investigation into how concentrated energy can persist across realms. A spectrogram translates sound into an image, mapping frequency and amplitude over time. Normally, the resulting image bears little obvious resemblance to the physical event that produced the sound. Lightning is different. The electrical discharge we perceive as a branching form generates measurable signals that, when translated into spectrograms, retain recognizable traces of the event itself. This suggests that energy does not necessarily lose its form as it moves between sensory or representational realms.

Drawing from our explorations of embodiment and sound that disrupt contemporary forms in order to return them to something more primal, in this performance we use the spectrographic record of a lightning bolt as an analogy for the relationship between physical movement and sound. In this relationship, movement and sound become forms of energy that can be translated, transformed, and carried across perceptual registers while preserving a semblance of their original true forms.
