Matt LeVeque and Michael Pisaro-Liu present a duo recital of new works for percussion and guitar by Michael Pisaro-Liu and Nicholas Deyoe
Matt LeVeque and Michael Pisaro-Liu present a duo recital of new works for percussion and guitar. Organized around common features of duration, attention, and the infinitesimal, the program probes Giorgio Agamben's conception of "bare life," i.e., a life that is reduced to its biological particulars by political mechanisms. Through music that is conscious of its own utopian function, the bare life reasserts itself as a fundamentally hopeful state of being. The program features premieres of percussion solos by Michael Pisaro-Liu and Nicholas Deyoe, a new work for guitar and sine tones, and concludes with a duo performance from Pisaro-Liu's "Harmony" series.
